Monthly Journal Prompts

♥️ ♥️ ♥️

This year I have decided to do monthly journal prompts because why not, right?

I wanted to do them for the start of every month so that I can reflect on the previous month and think about how I can improve within the upcoming month.

I literally just finished my prompts for May before writing this and it took me about 10 minutes which isn't that long which means everyone can do it but the time sent on it will depend on how much you reflect.

Here are my personal 2023 monthly prompts:

1. What is your previous monthly highlight?

Aka. What moment or memory from last month do you treasure the most?

2. How do you want to feel this month?

3. What am I taking into this month from last month?

A good example of this would be like a habit or even a feeling.

4. What am I looking forward to this month?

5. What habit do I want to form this month?

I have been doing these prompts for about 3 months now, because I was on holiday in Jan, and so far they make me feel a bit more ready for the upcoming month.

I hope you enjoy working through them.

A weekend in Lake Ferry

✈ ✈ ✈

We went for a little road trip to Lake Ferry for the long-weekend. Here's some activities ideas that we did if you too want to plan a short weekend away.

We stayed at Te Wheke Lakeside Villas which has an amazing view overlooking the lake, however it is quite open for the public to look in, and believe me when I say that people are nosey. But overall it was a really nice stay and I am happy that we had the chance to experience it.

The first day we left Wellington and headed for Lake Ferry. We made a few stops on the way just for the fun of it.

Our first stop was at Birchville Dam:

Next was at the Twin Lakes Lookout over the Stuart Macaskill Lakes:

Then we stopped in the small town of Featherstone for lunch but most things were closed except for Baker which had really good cafe style food. I would definitely recommend theiCinnamon Rolls/Buns too!

Then our last stop before reaching Lake Ferry was at the Wairarapa Lake Shore Scenic lookout:

Day 2 we went the look at the Pinnacles:

And then we climbed about 253 stairs to the top of the Cape Palliser Lighthouse to admire the view:

On the way to the lighthouse we definitely stopped to take in the cuteness of the largest sealion colony in the North Island of New Zealand!

We started out last day with a walk on Lake Ferry Beach:

We headed out for lunch at The Vineyard Cafe in Martinborough:

Then we finally got home feeling relaxed and prepared for the new week ahead.

Eye-opener must read: Women don't owe you pretty by Florence Given.

 ðŸ“–📖📖

If you follow me on Instagram you should see that I started a new highlight of book recommendations that I would like to share with you. I will only recommend the ones that leave an impact on me.

I recommended a book called "Women don't owe you pretty" by Florence Given and here is why...

Florence Given speaks her truth and explains her view of the patriarchy. She not only speaks about how the patriarchy affects us but gives us some solutions as to how we can solve them.

This book has made me realize why I care so much about certain things, such as how I look or why I care so much about how others perceive me or even why I get so jealous and defensive when I see a 'better' woman than me.

Not only does this book have refreshing non-sugar coating information in it's chapter but Florence has included her signature art style to get messages across to her audience too.

It has been sometime since I have read this book. It is somewhat of a journey trying to remember and acknowledge the problems that Given has raised about our society and if I'm being honest sometimes it slips my mind and I forget how to cope or deal with them. I think it is a good idea to keep rereading this book every now and then so that we are reminded of these things and feel more confident to stand up against this system.

Plus it is, personally, a very good read. I would recommend it to anyone 100%.

PS. Florence Given also has a podcast if you are interested in her work.

Here is my blog post where I mention her blog: My Podcast 2022 Blog Post
