Try This New Habit: Journaling.

♥️ ♥️ ♥️

Everyone keeps saying new year, new you. The new year is where you set new goals to achieve during that year whether it is going to the gym at least once a month to not having a that extra spoon of sugar in your coffee. Even though goals are really great, and feel even better to achieve,I feel like developing new  healthy habits is also important to develop in the new year.

Healthy habits are different things that you do that become apart of your daily routine and help you benefit physically, emotionally and mentally.

One habit that I developed in 2019 was, believe it or not, journaling.

As cheesy as this may sound but writing how I felt that day, what I'm thankful for and just looking back at how I survived previous days really helped me get through some difficult times. I currently have 2 journals, one is my gratitude journal and my other is my daily journal or diary as others may call it.

Daily Journaling:

For Christmas last year I received a diary or journal, sort of like this one from Typo, Click here. I absolutely love the way it was set up with calendars in the beginning of each month, big spaces where you can write down how your day was and even empty space to doodle or even write quotes down.

Gratitude Journaling:

I had an extra notebook that was just lying around that I decided to turn into my gratitude journal. So everyday I would basically find a minimum of three things that I am really grateful for. I must say that some days it was really difficult to find three but I was committed and noticed that no matter how bad or good my day went I started to look for the smallest things which made me so happy when I found something. Even if it was the silliest little thing that I found I still wrote it down.
You can use anything to write on whether its a piece of paper you randomly picked up, your phones notepad or even an extra book that is just lying on your desk. I use had something like this,Click here. I just wrote down the month and date then my three things that I'm grateful for in a bullet point format.

*Tip:Try not to write down the same thing every time.*

Journaling has helped me feel like a more thankful and happier person and it only takes about, at most, 10 minutes. It helps me live in today and not worry too much about my future.

I say give it a try and see what happens.
